Understanding Elsword Reforging & This Calculator
Reforging equipment in Elsword is a path to immense power, but it’s also a significant investment of materials and ED. This calculator helps you understand the potential costs involved for one specific upgrade step (e.g., going from +9 to +10).
How It Works:
The calculation is based on statistical expectation:
- Expected Attempts for One Success: If your success chance is `S%`, the average number of attempts needed is `100 / S`. For example, a 10% success rate means you’ll need an average of 10 attempts for one success.
- Material Costs: The expected number of attempts is multiplied by the materials you use per attempt (Fluorite Ores, Blessed Fluorite Ores, ED).
- Restoration Scrolls: These are used on failure. The expected number of failures before one success is `(Expected Attempts) – 1`. This is multiplied by the scrolls used per failure.
Example: Aiming for +10 from +9. Success rate is 5%. Fluorites: 60. Blessed Fluorites: 20. ED: 1.5M. Restoration Scrolls: 1.
- Expected Attempts = 100 / 5 = 20 attempts.
- Expected Failures = 20 – 1 = 19 failures.
- Expected Fluorites = 20 * 60 = 1200.
- Expected Blessed Fluorites = 20 * 20 = 400.
- Expected ED = 20 * 1,500,000 = 30,000,000 ED.
- Expected Restoration Scrolls = 19 * 1 = 19 scrolls.
Using The Calculator Effectively:
- Input Current Stage: Enter the current reforge level of your item (e.g., if it’s +9, enter 9). The calculator will show you’re aiming for the next level (+10).
- Enter Success Rate: Find the success rate for upgrading from your current stage to the next. This can be found in-game or on community resources. Enter this percentage (e.g., for 5%, enter 5).
- Material Costs: Input how many Fluorite Ores, Blessed Fluorite Ores (if using), and ED are consumed for each attempt at this stage.
- Restoration Scrolls: If you plan to use Restoration Scrolls to prevent degradation or destruction on failure, input how many you use per failed attempt.
- Calculate: Hit the “Calculate Expected Cost” button.
To estimate costs for multiple stages (e.g., +9 to +12), you would use the calculator for +9 to +10, then for +10 to +11, and finally for +11 to +12, summing the results. Remember that success rates and material costs often change at higher reforge levels.
Important Considerations:
- RNG is King (or Queen): These are *average* expected values. You might get lucky and succeed on your first try, or you might face a string of unfortunate failures. Prepare for variance!
- Pity System / Special Mechanics: This calculator doesn’t automatically factor in Elsword’s “pity” system (guaranteed success after a certain number of failures on some items/events) or special reforge events that might alter success rates or costs. You’d need to adjust your input success rate if such a mechanic significantly changes the odds for a specific attempt.
- Degradation/Destruction: If not using Restoration Scrolls, failures can lead to item degradation or even destruction at very high levels. This calculator focuses on the cost of successful attempts and restoration, not the replacement cost of a destroyed item.
