SAAG Calculation Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the SAAG value. 

SAAG = Serum Albumin - Ascitic Fluid Albumin

Variables:

  • SAAG is the Serum-Ascites Albumin Gradient (g/dL)
  • Serum Albumin is the albumin level in the blood (g/dL)
  • Ascitic Fluid Albumin is the albumin level in the ascitic fluid (g/dL)

To calculate the SAAG, subtract the ascitic fluid albumin from the serum albumin.

What is SAAG Calculation?
