Enter your draw weight, arrow weight, and bow efficiency into the calculator to determine your archery speed.

Archery Speed Calculation Formula

The following formula is used to calculate the speed of an arrow in feet per second (fps) based on various input parameters.

Speed (fps) = (Draw Weight * Bow Efficiency / 100) / (Arrow Weight / 7000) * 3

Variables:

  • Speed (fps) is the velocity of the arrow in feet per second.
  • Draw Weight is the force exerted to draw the bow (lbs).
  • Bow Efficiency is the percentage of energy transferred from the bow to the arrow (%).
  • Arrow Weight is the weight of the arrow in grains.

To calculate the speed, multiply the draw weight by the bow efficiency, divide by the arrow weight (converted to pounds), and then multiply by a factor of 3 to convert to fps.

What is Archery Speed Calculation?

Archery speed calculation refers to the process of determining the speed at which an arrow is shot from a bow. This involves understanding the draw weight of the bow, the weight of the arrow, and the efficiency of the bow. Proper calculation of archery speed is crucial for archers to optimize their equipment and improve their shooting accuracy.
